Small vessels warned against sailing

Manila, Philippines – Fishing boats and other small sea vessels were warned against sailing on the West Philippine Sea, particularly near Northern and Central Luzon, due to rough seas caused by the strong southwest monsoon or “Hanging Habagat,” state weather forecasters said on Wednesday.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said tropical storm “Talim” continues to pull the southwest monsoon causing rough sea condition and occasional to frequent rains over Northern and Central Luzon.

As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, “Talim” was located at 450 kilometers (km) west-northwest of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

Aurelio said may briefly enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday evening.

“It may or may not enter the PAR but if it enters the PAR, the storm may only pass the PAR line and will only stay inside the vicinity in less than six hours,” he pointed out.
