Fishing Notebook: Lake Shipp Park Boat Ramp Opens

The Lake Shipp Park boat ramp renovation has been completed and the ramp has been open for the past week.

“We didn’t finish the dock portion until Monday,” said Roger Griffiths, executive director of the Lake Region Lakes Management District.

“The ramp is 4 feet deep at the end of the ramp, which makes it one of the better ramps in the area,” he said.

With plenty of water to launch, Griffiths said there is no need for boats to power-load.

The city of Winter Haven, with help from T. Michael Stavers of the city manager’s office on the project, paid for the materials.

The Lake Region Lakes Management District provided the equipment, labor and design work.
