Boat buying in the Lake of the Ozarks

(KTVI) – For better and for worse, weather has had a significant impact on the economy at the Lake of the Ozarks for years – and this year it has been for the better!

“I think the weather has a lot to do with our success this year, “ says Austin French, a sales representative with Iguana Water Sports at the Lake of the Ozarks.

The past two summers brought severe heat and a sluggish economy which put a big chill on sales.  But the tide has definitely started to turn in 2014 according to French.   “You see a lot of the bigger boats, a lot more buyers for those right now and that says a lot for the economy.”

And there is no doubt that economy has been helped along by a breath of fresh air from mother nature.

“The weather and improving economy really helps out.  We haven’t had much rain this year so that really helps people.  They come out on the water.  They see a lot of these big boats out here and it gets them motivated to get in one of those big boats,” says French.

In 2014, sales are up across the board at Iguana.  Most importantly, the sales of big cruisers like the one we toured Monday.  These boats have all the amenities of home, except out on the water.

They literally have everything from the washer and dryer to the kitchen sink and bar-b-q.  One of the great features for these newer boats is the super easy navigation systems.  French says there is no need for novice boaters to afraid of these big boys.

Buyers come from all across Missouri and nearby states.  That keeps local money in Missouri and helps bring in extra dollars for our neighbors as well.
