Bluewater Yacht sales to host open house

For those looking for a new, upgraded way to get out on the water, Bluewater Yacht Sales will host an open house in the Wrightsville Marina behind its office on Marina Drive April 5-6. Members of the public are welcome to drop by anytime between 10 a.m and 4 p.m. on either day.

On display at the open house will be a Viking 60 foot, Viking 42 foot, Viking 61 foot, Caison 55 foot, Cabot 40 foot and about 10 sportfishing boats. The five yachts on display range in price from $400,000 to $3 million.

Visitors can expect to find food and drinks while they browse the cabins of the vessels to help determine which one they can most easily picture themselves enjoying the summer aboard.

Bluewater Yacht Sales professionals will be on hand to show visitors the many amenities, and educate visitors regarding new advances in boating technology, like the Zeus Pod Drive and Skyhook, which are available on the Viking 42 foot and 60 foot.

The Zeus Pod replaces the conventional steering system with a small joystick, making it easier than ever to control the vessel.

“A ten-year-old could drive it. It’s like you’re playing a video game,” said Kelly White, sales professional with Bluewater Yacht Sales.

Using a Zeus Pod Drive can also provide up to a 30-percent improvement in fuel economy, and even allows the boat’s driver to track sideways across the water.

The Skyhook uses GPS tracking to keep the boat in place, regardless of wind or currents. Drivers can set their coordinates and let the Skyhook adjust the boat’s engine to keep them where they want to be.

Bluewater Yacht Sales was founded in 1968 and carries key brands such as Albemarle, Back Cove Yachts, Cabot Yachts, Grand Banks, Hatteras, Harriet Bay Boat works, Princess, Regulator, Sabre Yachts and Viking Yachts.

The company grew significantly when it merged with Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales in October 2012. This helped Bluewater Yacht Sales become one of the largest yacht sale companies on the East Coast, boasting nine locations between Maryland and Florida.

Today, Bluewater Yacht Sales is trusted with nearly 400 yachts, which are valued at a combined $138 million.

Besides this weekend’s showing, Bluewater typically takes part in two international boat shows per year in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, Fla.

“We try to do one local show so that local folks don’t have to go all the way to Florida to see what kind of products we have,” White said.
