On one weekend each year, Central Texas Marine Dealers come together at one location to show the best available for on the water recreation. From small personal watercraft, bass boats, ski boats and cruisers to roomy party craft large enough for family and friends, the right boat for was available for many in Central Texas’ largest boat show running.

According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife, there are 597,832 registered boats in Texas, ranking it sixth in the country. Texas has more square miles of inland water than any other state. Within a two-hour drive of the Killeen-Temple-Belton area there are literally hundreds of miles of shoreline available for recreation.

Show Director Jim Reed said they had a great turnout for the weekend’s events.

The Central Texas Boat Show featured something for every water enthusiast “We’ve had a lot of good sales at the show this year, a lot of boats sold at the show,” he said. “We’ve had probably 3,500 people at the event over the weekend, so it’s been an extremely good show.”

The show is hosted at the Expo Center on the second weekend in January every year and is a thrill to all marine enthusiasts in the area.

“The dealers are all from right here in Central Texas – Killeen, Waco, Austin, all throughout this area and from the entire marine industry,” Reed said. “And we’ve got so many things to keep families occupied during their visits here.”

Those things include cooking demonstrations, kiddie pool fishing areas as well as scented candle sales.

Jennifer Bateman and her husband Tom and their three kids from Killeen were on hand during the event’s festivities Sunday afternoon during the waning hours of the event. They didn’t walk away with a boat, but they were very impressed with the atmosphere and the selection.

“The attractions are great, and it’s good they have all this here to enjoy,” she said. “We’re kind of in the market for something new, and we’re just looking for information, but actually seeing all the different kinds of options available to us is nice to have. We’ll definitely make the trip back next year.”
