A round-up of seasonal sales, shows and celebrations

Around the valley, people are working like Santa’s busy elves to
bring the uplifting sights, sounds and tastes of the holidays to
our community. Whether your holiday spirit could use a jump-start
of inspiration or you are looking for unusual gifts, there’s plenty
to choose from this season.

• Nov. 26: “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” Parade — Napa’s
annual holiday parade starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday at First and
School streets, and lasts until 8 p.m. Judging is at Dwight Murray
Plaza, with two prizes of $500 each awarded to the “Best
Theme-Oriented” and the “Best Use of Lights.” Santa will lead
everyone to the Town Center Rotunda following the parade.

• Nov. 27: St. Helena Holiday Bazaar — Shop for the holidays at
the St. Helena Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 6
p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1306 Oak Ave. in the
Carnegie Building. Admission, $1, benefits Filipino rice farmers
whose crops have been devastated by typhoons.

• Nov. 27: Advent Choral Concert — Four Napa choirs, performing
under the direction of John Partridge, sing for an Advent Choral
Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Napa.
More than 100 singers from First United Methodist, First
Presbyterian and Napa Valley Lutheran church choirs will join with
the Napa Christian Academy Choir to perform an 18th-century German
cantata: “Uns Ist Ein Kind Geboren” (“Unto Us a Child is Born”). A
$10 donation will be taken at the door, with proceeds going to The
Table, a local free meal program.

• Dec. 2-18: “Snowing in Delphi” — Dreamweavers and Lucky Penny
team up to present Catherine Butterfield’s play Dec. 2-18 at the
Dreamweavers Theatre, 1637 Imola Ave., Napa. Info,

• Dec. 2-4: Shopping extravaganza at Expo — Sue F. Payne
presents her annual arts and crafts sale, featuring works from 46
artists. Runs Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.;
and Sunday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Napa Valley Expo
Cabernet Hall, 575 Third St., Napa.

• Dec. 2-4: Meet the artists — The Holiday Ceramic and Mosaic
Show and Sale takes place Dec. 2, 3 and 4 at Napa Valley College’s
Community Education Center, 1360 Menlo Ave. The opening reception
is Friday, Dec. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 hours are 9
a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 4, noon to 5 p.m. Features a
diverse collection of decorative and functional pieces priced from
$5 to $100. A selected group of items will be raffled to benefit a
scholarship fund, and a portion of sale proceeds go to fund
classroom projects, tools and equipment needs.

• Dec. 2-17: Of partridges and pears — The Twelve Days of
Christmas at Meadowood is the resort’s wine and culinary
extravaganza featuring renowned chefs and vintners. Pricing begins
at $990 for weekday events and $1,065 for Friday and Saturday
events. Price is per couple, per night and includes one night’s
lodging at Meadowood and dinner seating for two. Visit

• Dec. 3: Boats on parade — The Napa Valley Yacht Club hosts the
Lighted Boat Parade, starting at 5:30 p.m. The lit and decorated
boats will be cruising through the Riverpark and the Napa Yacht
Club neighborhood this year, but will not go downtown due to river
maintenance and the low tide at the time of the parade. All boats

• Dec. 3: Napa Holiday BB Tour — Sample food and wine
pairings while visiting Napa’s bed-and-breakfasts, all decked out
for the holidays, from 3 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $55, and proceeds

• Dec. 3-4, 10-11: Open studio — Potter Karen Winograde hosts an
open studio on Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2394 Big
Ranch Road, Napa. Info, karenwinogradepottery.com.

• Dec. 3: Lighted Tractor Parade — Vintage and modern tractors,
antique trucks and construction equipment bedecked with lights roll
down Calistoga’s main street to celebrate the season on Saturday,
Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. Visitors are advised to arrive early for a good
viewing spot or to dine before the parade. See

• Dec. 3: St. Helena Holiday Home Tour — Get into the holiday
spirit with the eighth annual St. Helena Holiday Home Tour on
Saturday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Six homes featuring both
vintage and modern architecture will be decorated by designers and
open for viewing. All proceeds benefit St. Helena schools and are
tax-deductible. Tickets cost $40 in advance and $45 the day of the
event and may be purchased online at sthelenaholidayhometour.org or
at Vintage Home, 1201 Main St., St. Helena.

• Dec. 4: Hanukkah Hootenanny — Judd’s Hill Winery hosts its
annual “libations and latkes” get-together on Sunday, Dec. 4, from
noon to 3 p.m. at Judd’s Hill Winery, 2332 Silverado Trail. It’s
free for Judd’s Hill Wine Club members and $40 for nonmembers.
There is no charge to join the Judd’s Hill Wine Club. To RSVP

• Dec. 6-8: Ceramics at the college — The Napa Valley College
Potters Guild holds its annual studio open house and holiday
pottery sale Dec. 6, 7 and 8, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Tour
the studio, learn about classes and shop for handcrafted pottery.
Follow the signs to the campus ceramics building. 

• Dec. 10: Holiday Candlelight Tour — Napa County Landmarks and
the Napa County Historical Society’s annual Holiday Candlelight
Tour on Saturday, Dec. 10, 3 to 7 p.m., features 10 of Napa’s most
interesting Craftsman-style houses. Bay Area author Jane Powell
will give a talk about the Craftsman style at the Goodman Library
before the tour. The Goodman Library museum room will feature an
exhibit devoted to Craftsman interiors opening on Dec. 1. Tickets
are $40 ($30 for members of Landmarks and the historical society)
and can be purchased by calling 255-1836 or going online to
napacountylandmarks.org/holiday-candlelight-tour.

• Dec. 10-11: Christmas at the castle  — Castello di Amorosa in
Calistoga hosts a Holiday Cheer Weekend on Dec. 10 and 11, 9:30
a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. A $15 entrance fee, in addition to
regular tour or tasting fees ($17 general; $35 for a tour and
tasting) covers food and entertainment. Nonprofit organizations
from throughout the Napa Valley will display handmade holiday
wreaths in the courtyard. Raffle tickets for $1 each may be
purchased at the Castello, and 100 percent of the raffle ticket
proceeds will go to the nonprofits. Info, 967-6272.

• Dec. 10: “Festival of Trees” — View high fashion plus holiday
trees and wreaths at the Napa Valley Symphony League’s 19th annual
“Festival of Trees” fashion show and luncheon at the Meritage
Resort on Saturday, Dec. 10, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tickets are
$90 at napavalleysymphonyleague.org. Seating is limited. All
proceeds benefit the Napa Valley Symphony. 

• Dec. 11: A tribute to the season — The Napa Valley Chorale
presents a holiday concert featuring Dave Brubeck’s “Mass: To Hope”
on Sunday, Dec. 11, 3:30 and 7 p.m. at the First Methodist Church,
625 Randolph St., Napa. Tickets are $28 and $50. The full program

• Dec. 13-14: Holiday music — The Napa High choirs present their
Christmas concerts on Wednesday, Dec. 13 and Thursday, Dec. 14 at 7
p.m. in the District Auditorium at 2425 Jefferson St. 

The performances will feature all 350 choir students in 11
different ensembles conducted by Travis Rogers, Karen May and Jamie
Butler. 

Napa High Choir alumni are especially invited to participate in
the traditional closing by coming up to the choir risers to sing
the “Hallelujah Chorus” with the current concert choirs.

• “Dreams of Toyland” — Stop into Napa Valley Museum’s “Dreams
of Toyland” exhibit to see enchanting, old-fashioned Christmas
scenes created by collector Dolph Gotelli. Show runs through Jan.
31. The museum is at 55 Presidents Circle on the grounds of the
Veterans Home of California at Yountville. Information, 944-0500 or

• Festival of Lights — Yountville’s 23rd annual Festival of
Lights transforms the town into a glowing winter wonderland.
Throughout December, Yountville provides a range of holiday
entertainment including carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides, food
and wine events, a visit with Santa and more. More information at

• Santa Express — Catch the Napa Valley Wine Train’s Santa
Express on Dec. 12-14 and 17-24 for a family outing with Santa, his
