Two historic Winnipesaukee marinas come together under common ownership

WOLFBORO — The Pratt family has announced the acquisition of Shep Brown’s Boat Basin in Meredith, pairing it with Goodhue Hawkins Navy Yard, their existing boat dealership located in Wolfeboro. Shep Brown’s will also begin offering Chaparral Boat sales and service.

In a deal that combines two of the most historic marinas on Lake Winnipesaukee, Goodhue and Shep’s have over 200 years of combined operation on the Lake. That kind of longevity doesn’t come easily, and can only be maintained through sound business practices and a dedication to customer service, said owner Cameron Pratt. “As a family-owned and operated business, we truly strive to treat our customers as we would like to be treated.”

Goodhue Hawkins Navy Yard traces its history back to 1903 when Nathaniel H. Goodhue and Chester E. Hawkins began building, and even renting, new boats at the marina on Sewall Road in Wolfeboro. Shep Brown’s Boat Basin in Meredith also bears the name of the original owner who began the company in 1919.

While boat building is no longer part of the businesses, there is news regarding the boat brands offered at these two locations. Goodhue Hawkins will continue to offer premium Cobalt boats, the most popular runabout on the Lake. They will now also sell and service new Boston Whaler boats from the Wolfeboro location. Boston Whaler will continue to be available at Shep Brown’s, where they have been sold and serviced for over two decades.

Additionally, Chaparral Boats has announced a partnership with the Pratt family and will be available at the Shep Brown’s location almost immediately.

“Lake Winnipesaukee and New Hampshire are an important area to the team at Chaparral Boats,” said Aaron Krenzer, Northeast sales manager for Chaparral Boats. “The Pratt family has initiatives in place to grow our brands for many years to come. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship.”

Lil Yachty Says New Mixtape Lil Boat 2 Is “Coming Soon”

A few days after his gig as a Video Music Awards correspondent, Lil Yachty hopped on Instagram to deliver concert footage that ends with a music update: “Lil Boat 2 Coming Soon.” The upcoming project will be a sequel to his debut commercial mixtape, which featured the “Minnesota” remix and “One Night.”

Lil Yachty’s last project was his debut album Teenage Emotions, which fared poorly commercially despite Yachty being a cultural hot topic at the time of its release. “I understand first week numbers didn’t do what most people expected but that’s only because they don’t understand me,” he said in an Instagram post addressing the disappointing sales numbers. “They don’t understand us. I don’t expect anybody to. I make it for those who listen.”
