Ranger Boats adds Iowa dealer

Water’s Edge Marine is the newest authorized dealer for sales and service of Ranger boats. The dealer will feature many of Ranger’s latest offerings in fiberglass bass, multi-species, fish-n-play and aluminum boats.

Water’s Edge Marine has been serving central Iowa since 1989. Originally situated in Johnston, the business moved to a new facility in Polk City in 2011, only a quarter mile from Saylorville Lake marina.

“Ranger Boats would like to welcome Water’s Edge Marine into a select group of dealers who are authorized to sell and service our boats,” said Ranger Sales Manager Mark Zwicker. “Their top-quality service department and wide product selection draws customers from all across Iowa. With customer service as top priority, Water’s Edge Marine’s reputation for their knowledgeable sales staff and trained mechanics has led them to become one of the most popular dealers in the area. We are happy to bring them into the Ranger family.”

Water’s Edge Marine offers new and used boat sales, a service department with certified Mercury and Yamaha technicians, a parts department and a full compliment of marine accessories. This summer, the dealer will expand their existing showroom footprint with a new 12,000 square foot indoor showroom.

“Ranger offers a wide selection of boats to fit just about any of our customer’s needs,” said Water’s Edge Marine owner Phil Watson. “Their hard-earned reputation for high-quality and innovation will help widen our customer base and we are honored to be a part of their long-standing tradition of performance, style and high resale value. We look forward to this new partnership in the coming years.”

Organizers said the four-day Novi Boat Show attracted more than 14,000 people this year.

The Novi (Mich.) Boat Show wrapped up a four-day run at the Suburban Collection Showplace last Sunday with a 17 percent increase in attendance.

Organizers said attendance was 14,318 and exhibitors reported positive sales as spring nears.

“The Novi Boat Show is the last boat show in Michigan for the winter season and typically has a very strong buying demographic. The sense of urgency comes as boaters realize spring launch is right around the corner,” show manager Nicki Polan said in a statement.

“This year’s early mild weather has created real excitement. New features, performance innovations and continued economic stability have helped to fuel boat sales in Michigan for a sixth consecutive year of growth.”

The show is produced by the Michigan Boating Industries Association. At 235,000 square feet of exhibition space, it was sold out.

“This year’s Novi Boat Show was our most successful yet! The attendance was great throughout the show,” Aqua Sports president Jeff Nichols said. “Sunday, which is usually one of the slower days, was very busy from start to finish.”

The 2018 Novi show will be held March 15-18 at the Suburban Collection Showplace.

Sale forces superyacht Solandge to skip Palm Beach International Boat Show

The super luxury yacht Solandge will skip its scheduled appearance at the 32nd annual Palm Beach International Boat Show after brokers announced Thursday the 279-foot-long vessel has been sold.

While Moran Yacht Ship, the Fort Lauderdale-based brokerage that handled both sides of the transaction, would not reveal the final sales figure, the asking price was approximately $167 million.

“After 10 months on the market, I can confirm that the deal closed [Wednesday)]” said Taylor Craig, a Moran Yacht Ship sales and charter broker.

Built in 2013 by Lürssen, a German shipbuilding company, Solandge features six decks, numerous entertainment areas and has accommodations for 16 guests in eight elegant staterooms.

The yacht, which flies the flag of the Cayman Islands, carries a crew of 29 and boasts a timeless Espen Oeino-designed exterior and gorgeous interior arranged by Aileen Rodriguez.

The ship has all the bells and whistles: a beauty salon, sauna, state-of-the-art gym, modern kitchen area, bar with piano, infinity pool, outdoor movie theater and nightclub with a DJ deck, dining hall, marble finishes in bathrooms, owner’s suite with private Jacuzzi, salon and office.

It has an aluminum superstructure, steel hull and large garage doors in the aft section to house a tender. According to Moran, there is another doorway in the hull for use as a tender docking area “or beach swim platform.”

The yacht is suited both as a luxury charter yacht and private vessel.

Craig said he believed that Moran Yacht Ship would continue to charter the Solandge for the new owners.
