Denison Yacht Sales expands to Puerto Rico

Posted on December 22nd, 2014

Denison Yacht Sales established a strategic partnership in the Caribbean with Puerto Rico-based Industrial Marine Service.

Industrial Marine Service completed the integration of its yacht brokerage department into South Florida-based Denison’s network, positioning the company to benefit from Denison’s management, marketing support and superyacht division. Denison will operate a yacht brokerage office out of Industrial Marine Service’s Villa Marina office in Fajardo.

“We can now offer all clients a boutique collection of services for brokerage and charter with a unified and centralized management structure,” Industrial Marine president Stanley Castro said in a statement. “Our strong sales team and the management of Luis M. Ayala will be an asset to all of our clients.”

Industrial Marine Service has operated since 1975 as a new-boat dealer and brokerage firm serving Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Industrial Marine Service is the official new-boat dealer for Sea Ray, Meridian, Scout, Marquis, Carver and Sea Vee.

“Our sales and marketing formula, coupled with IMS’s local knowledge of the Puerto Rican and Caribbean boating marketplace, is a partnership full of great synergies,” Denison Yacht Sales president Bob Denison said. “Having a physical office at one of Puerto Rico’s great marinas, supported by Stanley’s awesome sales team, will be an asset to all of our clients.

“Puerto Rico has the tropical climate, beautiful waters, boating events, fishing tournaments, marinas and yacht clubs necessary for a thriving boating market. We’re thrilled to now be a part of the local Puerto Rican boating landscape.”

Thieves hit up Hawke's Bay boat owners

Thieves are targeting Hawke’s Bay boat owners taking everything that’s not tied down.

Police recorded several thefts from boats parked on land at the Napier sailing club and from properties in Onekawa, Ahuriri and Greenmeadows at the weekend.

Fishing gear, fuel tanks and batteries were taken, and an outboard motor was stolen from a boat in Kairakau Rd in central Hawke’s Bay.

“Thieves are targeting local boats and they will not hesitate to take anything that literally isn’t tied down,” Hawke’s Bay prevention manager Inspector Andy Sloan said.

He urged boat owners to remove as much as they could from their boats while they were parked up.

“Otherwise you will be sending an open invitation to thieves.”

As the holidays approach, thefts from boats became more common with some people trying to sell items on, Sloan said.

“If you are offered any cheap boating gear such as motors, fuel tanks or batteries, please think twice about where it may have come from.

“It may seem like a bargain, but once again if it seems too good to be true, it’s probably stolen.”

People with information about the weekend thefts can contact Intel at Hawke’s Bay Police on 06 8310700.  Information can also be left anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111
